BASKETBALL TRAINING

Basketball training

Maralal and South Horr, Kenya

How it started

It all began with basketball training sessions at Irene School in Maralal. From there the team grew, eventually competing in regional and interregional tournaments.

Growing together

The project expanded with support from the San Paolo Ostiense community in Rome, who donated uniforms and shoes for the team.

Recognition from outside

Our students took part in a Giants of Africa camp near Maralal, on the strength of their progress on the court. STORM didn't organize the event, but for them, after the work put in together on Irene School's basketball court, it was a big moment.

South Horr

In 2026 we extended the work to the South Horr team as well, where Paolo Gentiloni, one of our volunteers, helped coach the fundamentals.

Why sport matters

We believe sport is an integral part of a person's growth. A team sport passes on values, discipline, collaboration, trust, but it also opens real opportunities: scholarships, and down the road, a path into work.
